Career Coach Denver CO · Resume Writing Denver runs two energy industries. They do not speak the same language.

Oil and gas operators and renewable developers headquarter within a few miles of each other here, and each reads the other's resume with suspicion. That is one example of the wider problem in this metro: almost every sector here has a neighbour that looks adjacent and is not, and the vocabulary decides whether you get read. Every document is built by a firm founded by a hiring executive with 2,500 placement decisions behind him.

Denver, Colorado

Career coaching and resume writing, for a divided market.

Legacy Careers LLC provides career coaching and resume writing to professionals in Denver, Colorado. The firm produces ATS-ready resumes, cover letters, match reports, LinkedIn profiles, and professional bios, and coaches clients through interviews, search strategy, networking, and salary negotiation, including how to handle a geographic pay band. Documents run $149 to $749 and coaching programs run $549 to $2,497, with a $25 resume audit as the entry point. The work targets the employers actually hiring along the Front Range: the space and satellite contractors spread from Waterton to Boulder, the oil and gas operators downtown and the renewable developers and federal energy laboratory a few miles away, the hospitals and the Anschutz medical campus, the technology and telecom employers in the Tech Center and along the northwest corridor, the investment and retirement services firms, and the outdoor, brewing, and natural foods industries the state is known for. Across completed engagements 87% of clients accept an offer, in 58 days on average, against an industry norm of 120 to 180 days. The bar every file clears was written on the hiring side across 2,500 placement decisions.

The firm is based in Houston and every engagement runs virtually. That changes nothing about the local work: the target list, the employer landscape, and the vocabulary in your documents are Denver specific, and the first question here is usually which side of an industry line you are aiming at. Deliverables and prices sit on resume writing services, session detail on career coaching programs, and employer seat pools on corporate outplacement.

The Sector Map

Who actually hires in Denver, and what each one reads for.

Six landscapes, and several of them sit next to a neighbour that looks adjacent and is not. Your resume belongs to one of them, stated in that one's language.

Aerospace and space

Colorado carries one of the highest concentrations of aerospace employment per capita in the country: satellite manufacturers, launch providers, imagery and earth observation, ground systems, and the military space commands and their contractors. Panels read for clearance level and status, program and constellation names, mission phase experience, and whether you have worked on hardware that flies or on the systems that fly it. This sector is also the least visible to outsiders, because so much of it never advertises what it does.

Energy, in two forms

Oil and gas operators, midstream, and service companies working the basin north of the city, and within a few miles of them a federal renewable energy laboratory, wind and solar developers, storage companies, and the transmission and interconnection specialists who serve them. Both sides are hiring for project delivery, land, permitting, regulatory, and field operations. Neither side reads the other's resume generously, which is the single most common Denver problem.

Healthcare and bioscience

Multiple large systems, a children's hospital, and a medical and research campus in Aurora that is one of the largest employment sites in the state, plus the device and diagnostics companies around it. Hiring runs far past clinical into revenue cycle, informatics, supply chain, quality, compliance, and research administration. Licensure and regulatory vocabulary screen first, and this remains the steadiest sector in a metro where energy and technology both move hard with their cycles.

Technology and telecom

A long cable and satellite communications legacy, enterprise software, cybersecurity, fintech, and a research and startup corridor running northwest toward Boulder. A large share of these employers are satellite offices of companies headquartered elsewhere, which changes what panels read for: autonomy, written communication, and the ability to run a function without a leader in the same building.

Financial and professional services

Investment management, retirement and benefits administration, brokerage operations, banking, and the legal, accounting, and consulting firms serving the energy and real estate industries. Panels screen for licensing where it applies, regulatory literacy, named platforms, and volume handled. Energy finance in particular is a genuine Denver speciality and reads for basin and asset familiarity as much as for financial technique.

Outdoor, food, and beverage

Outdoor and active lifestyle brands, one of the deepest craft brewing industries in the country, natural and organic foods, and the manufacturing and distribution behind all of it. Panels read for production volume, quality systems, cost and margin, and supply chain management, and candidates in this sector consistently describe a manufacturing and commercial job in the language of the product rather than the operation.

Compensation

What Denver pays for, and why you are being priced as a postcode.

No salary table appears here. Colorado already requires a range on the posting, so the more useful question in this metro is a different one: whether the number you are being offered reflects your value or simply the tier your zip code sits in. Six things decide what you can credibly ask for.

Your range is not a number you look up. It is a number you build from the roles you are actually pursuing, and then defend in a room with someone who already knows what the job is worth.
01

The range comes from your target list

It is assembled from your actual targets rather than looked up. The roles you are chasing, the level they genuinely sit at, and the employers you named. A cleared space program, an operator downtown, a renewables developer, and a hospital system pay on four unrelated logics inside one metro, and a Front Range average reconciles none of them.

Built per client
02

Find out whether you are a person or a pay band

A large share of employers here are satellite offices or remote-first companies that set pay by geographic tier, and Denver almost always sits below the coastal bands. Ask directly which band applies to the role, whether it follows the employee or the office, and what happens if you move. It is a real practice and it is more negotiable than people assume, particularly on bonus, equity, and level, which often sit outside the banding logic entirely.

The whole offer
03

The expectations question comes early

Even with a range published, you will still be asked what you are looking for, and answering with a number pulled from a national average is how people land at the bottom of a band that was printed in front of them. There is a way to answer that stays inside the posted range while inviting them to tell you where the role is actually funded, and it gets built and rehearsed in coaching before you need it.

Coaching · before the screen
04

Cost of living cuts both ways

Housing here rose far faster than pay did over the last decade, and employers still reach for the lifestyle argument as though the mountains were part of the package. For some people that trade is genuinely worth making and they are glad they made it. It is also the standard justification for a lower number offered to someone who relocated recently and has not benchmarked locally. Both things are true at once.

Relocation · both directions
05

The cycle sets the leverage

Several clocks run at once here and they are not synchronised. Space and defense follow contract awards and option years. Oil and gas follows price and the regulatory environment, which in this state moves on its own schedule. Renewables follow policy, tax credit structures, and interconnection queues. Technology follows funding. Healthcare is steadier than any of them. Knowing which clock governs your target sector tells you whether to push now.

Timing · honestly
06

The document sets the ceiling

The band is largely settled before anyone speaks to you. A panel forms its view in the top third of your resume and opens accordingly. In a metro this full of adjacent industries, the fastest way to be read low is to arrive in the neighbouring sector's vocabulary, because the reader concludes you are a stretch rather than a fit and prices the risk accordingly.

Where it really starts

No salary figures are published on this page because we have no Denver dataset we would stand behind, and because employers here already publish a range. Ranges are built per client from live target roles, against the band the employer is actually using.

The Map

Where the jobs actually sit, and what that costs you.

The Front Range runs fifty miles north to south and splits into eight hiring pockets on two highways and one rail line. Which end of the corridor you can reach every morning decides more of your search than your experience does.

Downtown, LoDo, and Union Station

Energy headquarters, law, finance, government, and the startup layer around the station district. Compact, walkable, and well served by rail from both ends of the corridor, which genuinely widens who can work here. Energy finance and land teams cluster in these towers, and they are the shortest hop between the two energy industries for anyone trying to cross over.

The Tech Center and Greenwood Village

Corporate campuses, telecom, financial services, technology, and a large share of the metro's back-office and shared-services employment. Light rail reaches it and the highway does not forgive you at peak. Compensation philosophy here sits closer to national corporate norms than downtown, which matters when you are comparing two offers that look similar on paper.

Aurora and the Anschutz campus

The medical and research campus, hospitals, bioscience, and a nearby military installation with its own contractor base. One of the largest employment sites in the state and a genuinely separate labour market from the rest of the metro. Credentialing vocabulary matters here as much as the experience underneath it, and the commute works from the east and south far better than from Boulder.

The northwest corridor: Broomfield, Louisville, and Boulder

Aerospace and satellite manufacturing, federal laboratories, software, natural foods, and a research university. This corridor holds the highest concentration of technical talent in the state and the longest tenures. It is also the hardest commute in the metro from anywhere south, which quietly decides who can realistically apply.

Golden, Lakewood, and the west

A federal energy laboratory, a mining and engineering school, brewing at scale, and a large federal centre. This is where renewable energy research and the technical workforce around it actually sit, and it is consistently underweighted by candidates who search only the downtown energy towers.

The north: Westminster, Thornton, and Brighton

Manufacturing, distribution, oilfield services, healthcare, and the supply base serving the basin. Housing is newer and cheaper than inside the loop, which is why so many people commute inbound from here. Certifications and a clean safety record outweigh the school on your resume across much of this corridor.

The airport, Aerotropolis, and Commerce City

Aviation, cargo, distribution, fulfilment, and the industrial development spreading east toward the airport. This is the fastest-growing employment footprint in the metro and the least understood. Shift work is standard and pay reflects it with differentials that a base-salary comparison misses entirely.

The south: Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and Castle Rock

Corporate offices, healthcare, financial services, and a satellite and space contractor presence at the southern end. Commutes work inbound to the Tech Center and painfully to Boulder, which effectively splits the metro in half for anyone living down here. Worth deciding deliberately rather than discovering in week three.

Tell us the radius you will actually drive and the target list gets built inside it. A list full of roles you would decline is not a search, it is a way to feel busy while nothing moves.

The Local Read

How a Denver panel reads you.

Five things that are true here specifically, in the order they hit your application.

  1. 1

The system reads you before a person does.

The health systems, the large aerospace employers, and every federal or contractor posting here screen at volume before a person is involved. What fails is mechanical rather than a judgement about you: layouts that scramble on parse, headings a parser does not recognise, dates read as blank, and keyword coverage that does not match the requisition. Nobody tells you it happened, which is why the same fault keeps costing applications for months.

    Gate one
  2. 2

Two energy industries, and the words do not carry across.

Basins, completions, working interest, and lease operating expense are precise to an operator and read as foreign to a developer. Interconnection queues, capacity factor, tax equity, and power purchase agreements read the same way in reverse. The underlying work, delivering projects, managing land and permits, running field operations, is often the same job. If the page does not translate it, the panel concludes you are a career change rather than a lateral move, and prices you as one.

    Gate two
  3. 3

Clearance is a filter here, and quieter than you expect.

Colorado holds one of the densest concentrations of cleared work in the country and a great deal of it is never described publicly. A current clearance is applied as a filter before your experience is read and it materially changes what you can be paid. State the level, the investigation date, and whether it is active or eligible for reinstatement, near the top. If it is about to lapse, say so, because it is an asset with an expiry date.

    Gate three
  4. 4

Credentials and clearance are applied before the read.

A PE stamp, a clinical licence, a securities licence, a PMP, a quality or food safety certification, or a specific engineering credential is treated as a gate rather than as a credit. Each belongs where a scanner catches it in the first ten seconds, with the status and date stated. In the regulated employers across this metro a blank space is read as a no rather than as an omission.

    Gate four
  5. 5

Your manager may not be in this state.

A large share of Denver roles sit in satellite offices reporting into headquarters somewhere else, which changes what a panel screens for. They want evidence you can run a function without a leader down the hall: written communication, decisions made alone and defended later, and results delivered across time zones. Candidates who only describe collaboration read as dependent. Name the times you owned something remotely, because here that is the job.

The Difference

Everyone says they write better resumes.
Here is what better looks like in Denver.

A Denver panel settles two questions in about thirty seconds. What did this person actually own, and will they fix the problem I am hiring for? In a metro where the sector next door uses different words for the same work, a third question gets answered against you silently: is this person a fit or a stretch? Every bullet is rebuilt to settle all three.

Satellite operations · the invisible industry
What was sent

Mission operations engineer supporting satellite operations, monitoring spacecraft health and responding to anomalies as part of the operations team.

What we wrote

Mission Operations: Owned on-orbit health and safety for a constellation through launch and commissioning, resolving anomalies to root cause with the manufacturer and writing the contingency procedures the console team now runs.

Why it works. Supporting operations and responding to anomalies describe presence on a console. Ownership through launch and commissioning, root cause resolved with the manufacturer, and procedures still in use describe a person who runs a mission. All of it was true already, and the second version also reads clearly to any operations employer outside the industry.

Renewables · crossing the energy line
What was sent

Project developer working on solar projects, managing permitting and coordinating with landowners, utilities, and internal teams through development.

What we wrote

Project Development: Carried two utility-scale solar projects from site control to notice to proceed, holding the interconnection position through a queue reform and closing land agreements across 40 parcels ahead of the tax credit deadline.

Why it works. Managing permitting and coordinating is the phrase that keeps developers stuck at their current level. Site control to notice to proceed, an interconnection position held through queue reform, parcel count, and a deadline met are the four things that actually decide whether a project happens, and they are exactly what an oil and gas land professional can point at when arguing the move across.

Beverage production · a manufacturing job in a fun industry
What was sent

Production manager at a brewery, overseeing brewing and packaging operations and working with the team to maintain quality and meet production goals.

What we wrote

Production Operations: Ran brewing and packaging across two shifts through a capacity expansion, cutting packaging loss and holding specification on every batch while bringing a new canning line into qualified production without missing a distributor commitment.

Why it works. Meeting production goals could describe any job in any plant, and the industry's informality tempts people into describing the product rather than the operation. Shift structure, a capacity expansion, packaging loss, specification held, and a new line qualified without missing distribution is a manufacturing record, and it competes anywhere food, beverage, or consumer goods are made.

Every rewrite above is built from facts the candidate already had. Nothing is invented, because in industries this small the person interviewing you may well have flown the same program, sat in the same queue, or bought from the same supplier.

Before You Buy

Ten questions, answered for Denver.

Cost, speed, coverage along the Front Range, and the questions a two-energy, satellite-office market asks that others never do.

Do you meet clients in person in Denver?

No. Every engagement runs virtually, which suits a metro strung fifty miles along the Front Range. The standard is identical whether you are downtown, in the Tech Center, up in Boulder, or out in Castle Rock. What is local is the target list, the employer landscape, and the vocabulary your documents are written in.

Does a Denver resume actually need to be different?

The framework holds everywhere. The vocabulary does not, and here it does not even hold within a single industry. A space contractor, an oil and gas operator, a renewables developer, and a health system read for four unrelated things, and the two energy employers read for different things from each other. Every document targets one role at one kind of employer.

I want to move from oil and gas into renewables. Is that realistic?

Yes, and Denver is one of the few cities where both sit within a few miles of each other. The obstacle is vocabulary, not capability. Project delivery, permitting, land, regulatory work, and field operations all transfer, but a resume written in basin and completion language reads as foreign to a developer, and a renewables resume reads as light to an operator. The match report names what your record already reaches on both sides.

Employers keep saying I would be on the Denver pay band. What does that mean?

That they are treating your location as a tier rather than negotiating your value. A lot of employers here are satellite offices or remote-first companies with geographic pay bands, and Denver usually sits below the coastal tiers. It is a real practice and it is negotiable more often than people assume, particularly on the components that sit outside base.

What does it cost, and how fast do I get it?

The $25 resume audit is the entry point and comes back as a written PDF inside 24 business hours. Documents are $149, $299, and $749. Coaching is $549, $1,197, and $2,497. Standard build is 3 to 5 business days and expedited is 1 to 2. Klarna and Afterpay are available at checkout on all of it.

How far out do you cover?

The Front Range: Aurora, Lakewood, Arvada, Westminster, Thornton, Centennial, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Broomfield, Boulder, Golden, Parker, Castle Rock, Brighton, Commerce City, and Lone Tree. The metro runs a long way north to south, so tell us which stretch of the corridor you will genuinely drive and the target list gets built inside it.

How do I work out what to ask for here?

Start with the posted range, since Colorado requires one, then work out whether you are being priced as a person or as a postcode. If the role is remote or reports out of state, ask which band applies and why. Beyond base the components differ by sector: clearance premiums and program stability in aerospace, bonus in energy, equity at technology employers, and shift differential across the hospitals.

Who actually writes my documents?

A Legacy Careers writer working to a written standard rather than to taste, and nothing is released until someone who has genuinely made hiring decisions has read it against that standard. The firm operates from Houston, works with Denver clients virtually, and was founded by an executive with 12+ years on the hiring side and 2,500+ placement calls behind him.

Is there a guarantee?

On every coaching program. Send 25 relevant applications inside sixty days without landing an interview and the work continues at no additional cost until interviews arrive. Document packages carry an edit window instead: 30 days on the standard tiers, 60 on the executive tier, with no revision count and no charge per round.

We are cutting roles in Denver. Do you handle the employer side?

Yes, priced separately. Employers hold a quarterly pool of transition seats from $650 a seat and refer people into it as needed. Anyone referred is working with a career expert inside three business days, and a utilization report arrives each quarter. The full economics are published on the outplacement page.

Something not covered here?

Email us and a real person answers, usually the same business day.

Coverage

Denver, and every other market.

Legacy Careers LLC provides career coaching and resume writing services to professionals in Denver, Colorado, and in all 50 states. Denver clients come from the satellite, launch, and space systems contractors spread across the Front Range, from the oil and gas operators downtown and the renewable developers and federal energy laboratory a few miles west of them, from the hospitals and the Anschutz medical and research campus, from the telecom, software, and cybersecurity employers in the Tech Center and along the northwest corridor, from the investment management and retirement services firms, and from the outdoor, brewing, and natural foods industries the state is known for. Documents are ATS-ready and written for one target role at one kind of employer, with a match report naming the titles a background genuinely reaches. Packages run $149 to $749, coaching $549 to $2,497, and the $25 audit returns a written PDF within 24 business hours.

Coverage spans the Front Range from Castle Rock to Boulder. Two things shape a search here. Sectors that look adjacent are not, most obviously the two energy industries headquartered within a few miles of each other, and a resume written in the neighbouring vocabulary reads as a stretch rather than a fit.
